NUTRITIONAL THERAPY: Nutritional therapy is much more than just giving general advice on healthy eating. We all have individual requirements for nutrients, based on our genetic make-up, our environment, lifestyle, age and diet. The nutritional therapist works closely with the individual to establish these requirements and to identify and correct biochemical imbalances in our bodies which may lead to ill health. A personal tailor-made programme is devised to enable the person to achieve and maintain optimum health. Nutritional Therapy can be very successful for all of the following conditions: Unexplained infertility, managing diabetes and cholesterol, allergies and food intolerance, arthritis, IBS, PMS, menopause, anxiety/stress, digestive disorders, eating disorders, weight problems and skin health. INITIAL CONSULTATION: Prior to the first consultation the client needs to fill out and return a detailed questionnaire about their current health. These can be obtained from reception or downloaded here. The first consultation then lasts up to 90 minutes, where a thorough medical, dietary and lifestyle history is taken. The client’s health issues are then discussed and a nutritional programme is prepared to meet their needs. This usually includes dietary and lifestyle changes and may incorporate an individual supplement programme. Diagnostic tests may also be recommended to clarify underlying causes contributing to the health problem. FOLLOW UP CONSULTATION: Follow up consultations usually last approximately 45 minutes and commonly take place at 4 and 12 weeks after the initial consultation. This is to evaluate progress and fine-tune the programme.
